PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT SOURCING MANAGER

To source & develop new and bespoke products to the highest possible quality, ensuring all products are risk assessed and fit for purpose, and meet cost price and customer delivery targets. consistent delivery of commercially relevant product ranges/projects on time and to budget.

To ensure all products are manufactured to the highest industry product safety standards, meeting all legal requirements, for all relevant markets.

To ensure suppliers and manufacturers are compliant with all relevant industry safety, legal, ethical trade and labour standards.

Key Responsibilities:

Design & Development

  • To manage the design developers, providing support and guidance on a day to day basis, developing and coaching to reach best potential, and ensuring objectives are set and performance monitored
  • Create initial development design boards, product specifications, including sketches, design details, construction details, initial size chart to deliver product brief.
  • Keep up to date on all relevant product safety standards and legal requirements, working with outside bodies and Technical Team to ensure full knowledge and understanding of any standards and legislation
  • Ensure all relevant parties are familiar with and updated on product safety issues and legal requirements, and all supplier manuals, agreements and policies are regularly updated, issued, and suppliers signed agreements are returned and up to date.
  • Ensure development samples are supplied in line with project critical path dates, providing all relevant info to enable best possible sample quality
  • Working with Marketing & Sales, identify photography and salesman sample requirements, ensuring photography & salesman samples are ordered on time in line with company critical path dates
  • Understand timelines for each project, and be able to organise workloads and work to deadlines to deliver design boards, samples & prices, to enable orders to be placed on time for customer delivery

Sourcing/Costing

  • Source new factories in line with product requirements & business requirements.
  • Request FOB costs for new and bespoke products, working with Technical team, suppliers, and sales team to achieve appropriate product price for end customer
  • Within the team promote & drive cost engineering, cost reduction and sourcing projects, optimizing the focus on quality, service, and supply.
  • Maintenance of the Master cost documents in a timely & accurate manner.

Key Essential Skills:

  • Educated to degree level or can demonstrate considerable job-related experience
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience of sourcing globally.
  • Understanding and knowledge of knits, wovens and embellishments print /embroidery.
  • Good working knowledge of Critical Path Management
  • Understanding of Ethical Compliance and sustainability within the supply chain.
  • Possess a good working knowledge and understanding of BS7907, BS EN 14682 etc, relating to safety of design and manufacture of children’s clothing, and be able to apply it to designs
  • Able to assess colour of fabric and lab dips visually, and colour match
  • Proficient in the use of Adobe Illustrator for design work.
  • Ability to use Outlook, Vision PDM, Priority, Excel & Word, PPT.
  • Good communicator, both internally at all levels, and externally with overseas suppliers and personnel.
  • Able to travel independently to manufacturing regions.
